For the first time, BEST4Hy (UL) will assess the environmental impacts (LCA) and life cycle costs (LCC) of the end-of-life (EoL) strategies for PEMFC on the basis of actual dismantling and recycling technologies up to TRL 5. Till now non-existing inventory data will be collected and integrated into LCA. Similarly, LCA inventory data of the EoL processes for SOFC will be set up and integrated into LCA and the workflow will be defined. This will make a major contribution to environmental impact assessment of of these technologies at end of life. In addition, the Life Cycle Cost (LCC) assessment will be performed focused in EoL phase.

This area of the project will be the main area connecting the related projects eGHOST and SH2E covering sustainability, life cycle assessment, life cycle costs, and eco-design of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies.
